Mansa Sundiata Keita Kamara

CHIEF SUND IATA KEITA KAMARA

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

As a young child Chief Kamara

remembers being sad because of the

conditions of his people. Even though he

was very young, he would speak out against

things that he thought were wrong. Many

of his relatives told him that he would grow

up to be a preacher because of his fiery

spirit. Chief Kamara started to train in the

martial arts at the young age of six. He felt

this to be a way to acquire discipline,

something that you need in this world

today.

Chief Kamara began teaching at the

age of 17 and used martial arts to instill

positive values into the African community.

One thing that he realized is the African

culture had been wiped out almost

completely. He wanted to bring the African

martial arts back to the African nation

where it belonged, so he began a long and

tedious journey in search of all of the

information that he could find about the

African martial arts. Chief Kamara travels to Gambia, West

Africa in search of information for his task.

The elders of the state of Gunjur loved what

he was doing. They appointed Kamara a

National Chief and teacher of the Mandinka

warrior traditions in 2001. Chief Kamara’s

mission is to unify all African people and

empower the people of the African nation.

He is the founder of Sankore African Society

as well Sankore University of Martial Arts. He is President of U.N.I.A.

(Division 462), and he is also an author,

playwright, lecturer on African history, and

Hip Hop recording artist.

Chief Kamara strongly believes in the

saying “One Family, One Village, One

Nation.
